If you are brand new to
basketball betting, you should ask yourself if you really know what you're
getting into. There are many ways for players to bet on basketball. Some bets are single games, while others link
multiple games together and you must win all of them in order to collect
payout. Each has their own pros and cons, but if you're not informed, you could
miss out on some great opportunities!

Below are the common terms
of the various ways people bet on basketball. You're going to have to be
familiar these types of wagers with if you're serious about making some money
off basketball betting:

Totals: The
way this bet works is that you're betting on the total points scored by each
team. You have the option to select either over or under your chosen number.
With this type of bet, you can expect a payout of $1.00 for every $1.10 you
bet.

Props: This
is a more unusual type of bet where you match up two players and bet that one
will do something first. Examples of this would be that Player A would gain
possession before Player B, or that one would score first, or even score most
during the game. These can get crazy and creative and are more for fun than for
profit. This being said, if you take a close look at specific players and their
history, you might find a few undiscovered gems that can payout nicely for you.

Point Spread / Sides: This works by selecting the favorite or the underdog and then
checking the final score. If you picked the favorite, you deduct points from
the final score and if you picked the underdog, you add points to the total
score. In the end, the winner is the one who ends up with the most points after
the deductions. With this type of bet, you can expect a payout of $1.00 for
every $1.10 you bet.

Parlays: This
has a very high payout because in order to win, you have to bet between 2 and
12 teams and select the best of them all. If you lose only once, your entire
ticket is trashed. This is very difficult, but if you manage to pull it off,
you'll be walking out with a pocket full of cash!

Teasers: This
works just like a Parlay because you have to win all your games in order to be
in the money. The difference with a Teaser is that you can move the points
spread in your favor.

The Moneyline: This
type of bet has nothing to do with the points spread and only relies on one
team winning. If you choose the favorite to win, you can expect to lay down
more money in order to win less money. On the other hand, if you choose the
underdog, you can expect to lay down less money in order to win more money.
Please keep in mind that the odds do account for the differences between teams
in order to make it a fair bet.

Futures: This
is a type of long-term bet where you bet on a specific team having above or
below a certain amount of wins during the entire season. There's variations of
this type of bet where you can also choose a team to win their league or
division at the end of the season. These are hard to win, but the payout is
worth it if you can pull it off! Typically, these are attractive to newer
gamblers who want to have a low initial investment and in turn, they have a
team to route for the entire season.

Pleasers: Out
of all the bets listed, this is quite possibly the craziest of them all! This
is sort of a mix between a teaser and a parlay, but the difference is that
instead of receiving points to use in your favor, you actually give you points
away which makes it much harder for you to cover. In return for this, the
bookie gives you ridiculous odds so that if you do manage to win, you're going
to walk away with a full bank account!

So there you have it. Those
are the most common ways for players to bet on basketball. Once you understand
these wagers, consider yourself a graduate of Basketball Betting 101. For more

Teaching Basketball For Kids - Basic But Effective Tips

The game of basketball is one of the many sports that kids love the most. The love for the game and how it is played influenced them to learn the art of it at their very young age. Some kids may express their interest into it by playing online basketball games or even playing fantasy basketball games. But most of the time, they will express it by trying to play it the personal (physical) way.If you are a parent and your kids wanted to learn basketball, there are some guides that can help them to. Here are few of the basic ones that are pretty easy to follow but proven to be effective.Understand That Kids Are KidsIt’s true that discipline is the key to success in this kind of game or training. But keep in mind that kids are kids, no matter how serious the teaching and training session is, there will be time that they will make fun or get tired of it. Understand and expect that moment and find ways to make those kinds of moments a productive one for their basketball training.Teach Basic Ball HandlingDon't confuse this tip with ball dribbling because here, I am talking about ball gripping or how to properly hold the ball when not dribbling. This will enable them to know how to hold the ball when trying to pass or shoot. There are images and infographic out there that can teach this kind of skill set.Teach Basic ShootingLay up and jump shot are the most basic ones. Go for the jump shot first because it won't require them to dribble and drive to the basket. Teaching those jump shot will also enable them to learn the best way to hold and prepare the ball for a proper jump shot release. After jump shots and you are quite confident that they learned it pretty well, teach them how to properly do a lay up. There are many types of lay up shot but make sure to teach them the easier and basic ones which is using the backboard. With above basic tips and guides, teaching them the art of basketball at young age won't be that hard. By the way, before you make them play around the basketball court, make sure to tell them a story or two about the history of basketball, it will make them more interested to play this one of a kind and widely popular ball game.

Do you like playing Basketball games online or IRL?

I was having a conversation with a friend recently and they said 'it is pointless playing sports games online or on a gaming console as it is far more useful and beneficial to play the real thing'. I admired the fact that he was health conscious and would rather go out and get exercise rather than sit at home, yet I could not help but think that he was missing the point. Playing sports games online or on a gaming system like a PS3 or Xbox is never supposed to replace playing actual sports. In fact, most people that play sports also play sports games on their computer or console. The goal of a video game is to entertain - sports are physical competition and games are virtual entertainment - they can both be enjoyed side by side. In my opinion, they can also help encourage people to play new sports. For example, when I was a kid I picked up Mario Tennis for the Nintendo 64. I had never played Tennis in my life, yet I enjoyed the game so much I went out and bought a pair of tennis rackets, and went to a tennis court with my friend to play some real tennis. I wasn't much good, but the fact that a video game had actually encouraged me to go out and play a real sport can only be considered a good thing, particularly given the fact that young people are now more inactive than ever before. If you don't play sports in real life, or you don't play sports games online, don't worry, and remember you can start any one of them any time you want. And you certainly don't have to pick and choose between them, you will enjoy yourself the most when you partake in both of them!

An introduction to Basketball games

Basketball is a game which is known all over the world and played the world over. It is made up of two teams of players with five team members in each team. The game of basketball, just like any other game has rules guiding it. With the allotted time given to each game, the main aim of each team involved is to shoot more points [outscore] the opponent and be declared winner. The time taken to play the game for each of the four quarters that it is divided into is 10-12 minute each. The game of basketball has been reshaped into various groups and forms over time giving rise to a lot of basketball games like college basketball, high school basketball, International basketball, women’s basket ball, professional basketball and even online basketball games. There are various styles used when playing basketball games like dribbling- when the player needs to get the ball moving and has to pass other opponents by doing this, this style is used and it makes it hard for the opponent most times to get hold of the ball, passing- this happens when the players of a team need to move the ball from one member to another, the ball is passed strategically to avoid it falling into the hands of the opponent, Blocking- this is done by the someone from the opposing team when the other team is trying to shoot the ball into the basket, shooting when a member of either team wants to score and shoot the ball through the basket. In professional basketball games, the NBA [National Basketball Association] rules all over the world as the most popular basketball league. This is a professional men’s basketball league made up of about 32 teams. The professional basketball games last about 48 minutes but with all the fouls, half-times and close games, it totals about 2 hours 20 minutes with 4 quarters of 12 minutes each. The WNBA [Women’s National Basketball Association] is the major league in charge of Women’s basketball games although there are some other leagues like WNBL and WBAA and other professional women’s leagues in other countries like WEBL, EBL amongst others and NCAA Women’s College Basketball games for college. The International Basketball Federation otherwise called FIBA is responsible for handling international basketball games. They hold the FIBA Basketball World Cup for men’s national teams as well as the FIBA World Championship for Women and other tournaments with national teams from continents like Asia, Europe, Africa and Oceania. The college basketball owes its roots to the YMCA. Today, the NCAA is responsible for both men and women’s college basketball games. The games last about 40 minutes in a whole with 20 minutes for each half.In these modern days, the rise and popularity of online basketball games are seen everywhere online. There are basketball games for kid’s online, NBA basketball games online, powered through flash, these online basketball games come in different styles for men, women, girls and everyone.

Getting Children Engaged in Online Basketball Games

Being active in life really sets a good precedence for you in the future. You probably remember you couldn’t wait until the weekend, so you could meet up with your neighborhood friends and play all day. You had lunch at your friend’s house, you had to use your imagination when it came to playing cops and robbers or cowboys or Indians, or even playing dress up! You didn’t come home until dinner was ready and turned around and did it again for a second day in a row. Now, you probably have children of your own and you realized now how much has changed! How Much Has Changed! While you were playing outside in your day, your kids are now locked away in front of the television. When you were playing outside until the sun went down, your kids have no desire to play outside whatsoever. You engaged in basketball, teaming up with your neighborhood against another neighborhood for fun, your kids have no desire to play physical basketball, but to play basketball in a video game. You may be overwhelmed because just like your era growing up wasn’t like your parents, your children’s era isn’t like yours. Due to the growth in technology, it has made it very easy for children to never gain the necessary communication skills that need to be developed to effectively make it in the world as an adult. What to DoSadly, neighborhoods aren’t what they used to be. There’s no spirit left in them like when you were a child. It isn’t really clear why, but technology does play a huge role in it. It’s healthy to have your child choose one activity, whether it is playing on the basketball team at school, playing soccer or even twirling around on stage for theatre classes. Getting your kids active for a short period of time really develops a healthy mental outlook on like. However, you can find a balance with having your children stay active and allowing them to indulge in the technology that’s part of their era.Patience & UnderstandingYou may grow frustrated with the way your child’s era is, but rest assured you have a huge influence on what they do and so on. Keeping a child’s imagination alive and well comes from whether or not you encourage them and entertain them. A lot of parents get so involved in the daily stresses of life that they ignore their children, have the technology babysit for them and they leave the child to lose their child-like mentality. Make in a priority of yours to encourage your children that there is more to life than technology. Their ancestors made due without it and so can they! Keep in mind that is monkey-see, monkey-do in a child’s eyes, so set a good example for them! You can’t reminisce to your children about when you were young and how they should play, when you’re vegetated on the couch watching sitcom reruns.

Are playing computer games bad for your health?

So recently one of my friends told me that playing a lot of games wasn't healthy and that I should do physical sports instead. I thought about this and told him what I truly believe: moderation is key to everything.Playing computer games for hours on end with no breaks is certainly a bad idea, as is studying for very long periods, but that doesn't mean playing games or studying in itself is bad or harmful. For example, whenever I play or am studying behind my desk I make sure to take a break after every hour, and I usually do it for no more than 1 or 2 hours in a single sitting. Playing more hours in a day is ok, as long as you spread it out with other activities in between. Exercising, playing, working outside, and any other activity which requires you to move around is definitely something you should be doing every day, and in between your gaming sessions. This will help your concentration, and make gaming more fun to do.Games can also be a great way to encourage sports. For example if you play our basketball games and get satisfaction from winning, you might take an interest in the actual sport of basketball and start playing that too. The same goes with other sports games too.Games can be a great way to relax, have fun, or even get inspired to try out new things. But as always, moderation is key so no matter what you're doing, take breaks and and spread out your different activities to reap the most rewards.
